Polish Billionaires Will Sue Meta For Fake Ads Circulating On Its Platform

JAKARTA - A billionaire from Poland Rafal Brzoska and his wife are rumored to be suing Meta for fake advertisements that wear his face along with false information circulating on social media platforms.

Brzoska, creator of Polish parcel loan company InPost, said he had informed the tech giant was linked to a fake ad circulating in early July. But unfortunately, he did not find a bright spot to the problem.

However, Brzoska admitted that he had not yet determined which jurisdiction he would file the lawsuit. However, it may be decided in the coming weeks.

"We plan to file a personal lawsuit against Meta. We have not yet determined which jurisdiction we will sue Meta. We will decide in the next few weeks," Brzoska was quoted as saying by VOI from Reuters.

A Meta spokesperson admitted that they had tried to remove the fake ad when there was a report. Mark Zuckerberg's social media platform also said it had teamed up with local authorities to fight fraudsters.

Melalui gugatan ini, Brzoska mengatakan dia dan istrinya akan menuntut agar Meta berhenti mengambil manfaat dari promosi konten yang melanggar hak-hak mereka dan memberikan kompensasi yang besar, sesuai dengan tingkat pendapatan ad dari penyebaran disinformation jenis ini.

"We are considering all scenarios, including lawsuits in the United States if there is no action in Europe," he added.
