Samsung Reveals Possible New Design For AI-Powered Phones

JAKARTA - Samsung revealed that they are developing a new design for mobile phones powered by artificial intelligence (AI). In a recent statement from Samsung's head of mobile division, TM Roh, the company indicated that this new form would offer a larger screen and better portability.

TM Roh told the Australian Financial Review that while traditional mobile phone hardware is currently adequate for the needs of general users, the new era of mobile AI requires new hardware and design requirements to optimally utilize AI.

Roh explained that the new shape of this phone might combine better portability with a larger screen. Although Samsung has long offered a Z Fold series with a large internal screen, the company is also reportedly working on a Slim Galaxy Z Fold 6 model that is designed thinner than the newly launched Z Fold 6. However, this is not a new form, as competitors in the foldable market already offer ultra-thin devices.

Samsung has also shown a variety of foldable screen technologies in recent years, including several trifold concepts. The design of this trifold, if applied, will offer a larger screen with thicker designs than ordinary foldable phones, similar to large tablets. With this design, it is hoped that there will be a better balance between screen size and portability.

TCL has shown tri-fold screen technology a few years ago, but HUAWEI may be the first brand to commercially launch a tri-fold foldable phone. Leaks of information suggest that HUAWEI will launch phones with this technology before the end of this year.

Samsung is also investigating the possibility of a more affordable foldable phone, in response to growing market demand for foldable devices at lower prices. "Although our main focus is on providing premium experience for foldable phone users, we are also doing R&D with partner companies to investigate more affordable foldable possibilities," said Roh.

The spirit adds that AI-driven phones need to adopt "new types of input" like new sensors. This shows that Samsung is not only focused on the physical design of mobile phones, but also on how phones interact with their users in the ever-growing AI era.
