JAKARTA Tinder, an online dating app, launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based feature called the Photo Selector. This feature is designed to make it easier for users to choose profile images. Based on the results of the Opinium survey, Tinder users in the 18 to 24 year age range spend up to 33 minutes just to select the right profile photo. Therefore, Tinder launched a Photo Selector to help its users. According to Tinder, Photo Selector is a very useful feature in reducing photo selection burdens. The reason is, this feature can build profiles easily and support better work experience. Tinder CEO Faye Iosotalono said that this feature not only benefits users, but also his company. The launch of Photo Selector makes Tinder the first dating application to utilize AI.

"Our commitment to our users is clear and applies also to our view of AI. On Tinder, we are developing innovative technologies to create a safer space for people to create authentic connections," Faye said. To use the Photo Selector feature, users only need to provide access into the gallery so that AI technology inside Tinder can review images. Once Tinder displays the best photos, users can select photos and add to the profile. Currently, Photo Selector is still rolling out in stages for users in the US. The plan, Tinder will launch this AI-based feature to users outside the US at the end of this summer.
