Government Successfully Recovered 30 Public Services Impact Of PDNS 2 Ransomware

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has so far restored 30 public services affected by cyber attacks on the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto stated that the service recovery was carried out using a decryption strategy.

"As of Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 19.00 WIB, there are a total of 30 services from 12 K/L/D that have been successfully restored or Go Live," he explained in Central Jakarta, quoted by 13 puy Julo.

Based on the results of mapping and validation carried out on 282 ministries, institutions and local governments of PDNS 2, there were 167 affected ministries, institutions and local governments.

"It's still running, currently there are around 7 services out of 6 ministries, institutions and regions that are trying to recover soon," he said.

Acting (Plt.) Director General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Ismail explained that the government is implementing a short, medium and long term strategy for restoring public services at PDNS 2.

For the short term as an emergency recovery step that lasts during July-August 2024. Where recovery is set on target for priority public services.

According to Ismail, in this short-term strategy the forensic process was also carried out by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri).

Furthermore, in the medium term, the government targets to carry out a redeloy tenant, improve governance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) which is expected to take place from August to September 2024.

"Finally, for long-term or normalization strategies, the government conducts security audits on PDNS 1 and PDNS 2 by third parties who are independent and scheduled to last until September 2024. And then after that, it is hoped that the implementation of the audit can be carried out with a deadline of November 2024," said Plt.
