JAKARTA As a language translator service, Google Translate continues to be committed to helping everyone from various regions to stay connected. This service will address the problem of language barriers. Although Google Translate has supported thousands of languages to date, this platform continues to gain new languages. On Thursday, June 27, Google announced that it has launched 110 new languages in the translator tools they developed. Hundreds of these languages are supported by the large language model (LLM) of PaLM 2 and are the most language launches Google Translate has ever done. This newly added language is believed to be able to help about 8 percent of the world's population. "Some of them are the world's main languages with more than 100 million speakers. Other languages are spoken by small indigenous communities, and some of them almost have no original speakers," explains Google.

Some of the languages Google has added are Afar, Kanton, Manx, NKo, Punjabi, Tamazigh, Tok Pisin, Fon, Kikongo, Luo, Ga, Swati, Venda, Wolof, and other foreign languages that are rarely known by the public around the world. Interestingly, Google is also focusing on adding regional languages from various regions in Indonesia. Google Translate now supports Aceh, Bali, Batak Karo, Batak Simalungun, Batak Toba, Betawi, Makasar, and Minang. After adding hundreds of these new languages, Google is determined to launch more languages. "Along technological advances, and as we continue to partner with linguists and original speakers, we will support more language variations and spelling conventions."
