JAKARTA - A union representing Hollywood film crews and televisions on Tuesday, June 25 announced it had reached a temporary agreement over three years with major studios that included an agreed wage increase and arrangements for the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
International Alliance of Theater Stage Employees (IATSE) member, which includes lighting technicians and costume designers, will ratify the deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), representing Disney, Netflix, and others.
The terms of the deal include a 7%, 4%, and 3.5% scale tariff increase over three years, the union said.

Regarding AI, the agreement includes "languages that ensure no employee is required to provide AI prompts in any way that will result in the replacement of the covered employee."
By the end of 2023, the SAG-AFTRA and studio-studio actor unions reached a labor deal that ended the dispute over nearly six months that had halted film and TV production.
The contract also provides an increase in wages and bonus streaming that union leaders say amounts to more than US$1 billion (Rp16.4 trillion) over three years, as well as protection related to the use of AI in filming.
