Here's Kaspersky Cyber Expert's Response To Ransomware Targeting PDNS

JAKARTA - global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky said ransomware has grown over the past five years from threats to individuals to serious harm to corporate and national networks.

The ransomware attack recently confirmed by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) against the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) has also raised cybersecurity concerns.

Because of the reason, the National Data Center Meanwhile is a collection of data centers that are jointly used by central and local agencies, and are interconnected with each other.

"With the re-emergence of alleged cyber ransomware incidents targeting domestic important institutions, it is proven that the perpetrators behind it are increasingly focusing their targets," said Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia in Kaspersky in response to this issue.

Yeo said it was important for the business world to consider cybersecurity technologies that provide absolute anti-ransomware effectiveness in third-party testing.

Because according to him, not all cybersecurity solutions are created with the same function and ability. Kaspersky also believes in the importance of exchanging intelligence between public and private institutions.

The development of relevant laws, and close collaboration in cybersecurity can significantly increase a country's cyber defenses, Yeo concluded.

However, the Ministry of Communication and Information together with BSSN and Telkom Sigma said they were still trying to restore the PDNS 2 system service.

Until now, Director General of Informatics Application Samuel Abrijani Pangerapan admitted that there have been 3 services that have gradually recovered, including immigration services, licensing services for the Kemenkomarves event and LKPP services.
