JAKARTA - The Wall Street Journal report on Monday 6 May citing a source stated that Apple is developing its own chips to run artificial intelligence software in data centers.
Apple, which has been lagging behind its competitors in artificial intelligence, has been avoiding questions about its plans for this technology.
"We continue to feel very optimistic about our opportunities in generative artificial intelligence and we are making significant investments," CEO Tim Cook said.
This project, internally known as the ACDC Project (Apple Chips in Data Center), aims to leverage Apple's chip design expertise for its server infrastructure.
The ACDC project has been going on for several years, but it is not known whether or when the project will be announced.

For Apple's server chips, the components are likely to be focused on running an artificial intelligence model, also known as inference, rather than training artificial intelligence models.
Apple itself did not want to respond to requests for comment from the media on the report.
The company has been working closely with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) to design and start producing such chips. However, it is still uncertain whether the two companies have produced a definite product.
