JAKARTA - Despite the benefits of generative AI, there are several risks where bad actors use this new technology for bad purposes, including deepfakes, scripting escalation, and increased evasion.
Through the 6th Edition of Cyber Signals which has just been released, Microsoft claims to have detected cyber security signals in traffic totaling more than 65 trillion signals every day.
Additionally, Microsoft and OpenAI also stated that the companies had detected and thwarted attempts by cyberthreat actors such as Forest Blizzard, Emerald Sleet, Crimson Sandstorm, Charcoal Typhoon, and Salmon Typhoon who attempted to use Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT to improve and perfecting their cyber attacks.
This signals an important evolution in the AI cybersecurity race, and offers clear insight into how nation-state threat actors around the world are starting to add AI to their toolkits.
In addition, this report also reveals how Microsoft is exploring the potential of AI to improve security measures, as well as open up new and advanced ways to protect against cyber threats.
