JAKARTA - After announcing layoffs (PHK) of 1,900 of its employees from the gaming division, Microsoft's latest report revealed a 49 percent jump in revenue for its Xbox division.

The increase in revenue appears to have succeeded in replacing the funds the company has spent to acquire Activision Blizzard worth 68.7 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp1,084 trillion.

During the earnings call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the company has seen new all-time records for monthly active users on Xbox and PC, as well as mobile.

At the end of December 31, Microsoft saw its game revenue rise to USD 7.1 billion (IDR 111.8 trillion), with Microsoft linking 44 points of its net impact to Activision Blizzard.

These new revenue figures take into account the acquisition of Activision Blizzard companies, which carry major titles, including franchises such as the World of Warcraft, as well as Diablo and Overwatch.

In addition, Microsoft will reportedly record a 15.8 percent spike in quarterly revenue, becoming the best growth in nearly two years.

This growth is driven by the growing adoption of its enriched products with generative artificial intelligence, which increases demand for its cloud services.
