230 LPDP Recipients Equipped with Cultural Insight, 130 Will Study in 16 Countries

JAKARTA - A total of 130 LPDP scholarship recipients of the 280th batch will continue their studies in 16 countries. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon asked them not only to pursue academic degrees, but also to carry out Indonesia's cultural mission while studying.

The message was conveyed by Fadli in the LPDP Departure Preparation Program for the 280th "Amerta Karsa" Generation at the Lemdiklat Polri Language School, East Jakarta, Thursday, August 13.

The program was attended by 230 scholarship recipients at the master's and doctoral levels. A total of 130 people will study abroad, while the other 100 will study in the country.

"We can learn anywhere, be educated as high as possible, travel the world wherever, at the best university wherever, and work with anyone. But never forget that we have a responsibility to our nation and country," said Fadli.

According to Fadli, LPDP recipients have a strategic position to introduce Indonesian culture to the international community.

Fadli reminded that culture is not only related to art and music. Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning the Promotion of Culture includes 10 objects, ranging from languages, oral traditions, manuscripts, rituals and customs to traditional knowledge and technology, art, folk games and traditional sports.

He encouraged awardees to take advantage of the opportunity to study in various countries to strengthen cultural diplomacy, economic and cultural industries, and social relations.

The government, said Fadli, is also continuing to develop the film, music, visual art, performing arts and literature ecosystems.

He also touched on the repatriation and restitution of cultural objects. These efforts are said to be part of strengthening historical sovereignty and justice for Indonesian cultural heritage.

The LPDP Departure Preparation Program for the 280th Cohort took place on August 10-15, 2026. Participants received briefings on national vision, study plans, self-development, and plans for contributions after completing their education.

Fadli hopes that scholarship recipients will become leaders and decision makers in their respective fields without losing the roots of Indonesian culture.

"If we dream alone, it is only an illusion. But if we dream together, it can be a dawn," he said.
