UK Cities Look Futuristic In 2050 According To AI Imagination

JAKARTA - From Big Ben in London to the castle of Edinburgh, many cities in England can be recognized instantly thanks to their distinctive buildings. However, according to artificial intelligence (AI), this well-known landmark could be hidden behind a large transportation system in just 26 years.

Brighton-based film editor Duncan Thomsen uses AI to imagine how the five largest cities in England can be seen in 2050. The resulting images feature a variety of futuristic transportation systems across these cities, resembling scenes from Blade Runner.

"I love this Blade Runner-style future idea - it makes me smile," Thomsen said. Duncan, from Brighton, uses Midjourney software through the Discord app to create these pictures.

He asked AI to create a futuristic British city by 2050, but retain historic architecture and predict public transport based on current ideas.

Then, he added the vehicles that will operate around him. "I want to show how the generation of 20 and 30 years today will design their future, such as the 50 generation and 60 years old today design their own," he said.

"With so much available to them like AI and design structures, it will affect every country on the planet. I want to show how you can keep England and make it attractive globally to people," he added. "Everything is very interesting. London will always be a pioneer in design."

This is not the first time Thomsen has used AI to imagine Britain. Last year, film editors used Midjourney to create pictures of 'average people' in 13 districts.

He typed certain phrases to get results. For example, for Tyne and Wear, he typed: "Tyne and Wear as portrait characters with their trademarks of clothing, hairstyle, and personality".

He also added: "Social, friendly and proud of local roots, interested in music, art, and football, quickly never refuse to go out with friends".

The images produced by AI show Londoners as fashionable and cool people, while Somersets look more fraudulent.

They from Oxfordshire are described as young and urban, compared to Norfolk residents who are considered older and rural.

"Somerset is fun because I love colors and beards on the guy - it makes me laugh," Thomsen said.
