Threads Will Add DM Features Connected To Instagram

JAKARTA After four months of release, Threads still doesn't have the Direct Messenger (DM) feature. This happens because Threads are focused on making uploads, not sharing messages.

According to The Verge report, the Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said that his party did not plan to present DM on the Threads platform. Mosseri emphasized this statement again on Tuesday, November 14.

The Instagram official said that his party only focused on developing Instagram DMs. They want to optimize the use of inboxes on Instagram so that making DMs in Threads is not the right decision.

However, seeing the high demand for DM in Threads, this feature will soon be available there. However, this feature is not originally owned by Threads, but the Instagram DM feature which is inserted into Threads.

We have just launched DM capabilities from Threads without changing apps. We still need to make it easier, improve the acceptance experience, and implement a more comprehensive set of message delivery controls," Mosseri said in a Threads post quoted by VOI.

I haven't imagined what the appearance of this synchronized DM feature will look like, but both applications will be increasingly connected. Threads users can reply to messages on Instagram, and vice versa.

Although this way of working can be said to be good, the system is still confusing. Threads and Instagram users can be confused when replying to messages from their friends and wondering where these friends sent messages from.

This structure is indeed very complicated. If in the end Instagram has difficulty implementing this system, they will have two options, namely users must solve the notification problem themselves or the team will separate DMs between Threads and Instagram.

That is, Threads will eventually have its own messaging box separated from Instagram. Mosseri says, 'You'll have two excessive message threads with each of your friends with the same handles in two different apps.'
