JAKARTA - The Chinese Space Science and Technology Company (CASC) has launched the Yunhai monitoring satellite again. This launch was held at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on October 14 local time.

At this launch, CASC Yunhai-1 04 was the payload of the Long March 2D rocket belonging to the Shanghai Academy of Space Aviation Technology (SAST), part of CASC. This news was delivered one hour after the successful launch.

Quoting from Space, the Yunhai satellite was first launched at the end of November. All of these satellites are designed to observe and detect the atmosphere, ocean and outer space environments. Apart from that, this satellite is expected to be able to prevent and mitigate disasters.

In fact, Yunhai's capabilities have made this satellite known as a meteorological satellite by a number of analysts from the West. Although the Yunhai satellite has been launched several times, CASC has not only received good news so far.

In 2019, Yunhai-1 02 experienced a collision with small fragments of a Russian satellite in early 2021. This satellite was destroyed and divided into 37 fragments in orbit. However, 23 of their orbits re-entered the atmosphere.

To replace the destroyed satellite, CASC launched Yunhai-1 03 at the end of 2022, at the same place as Yunhai-1 04. This launch went smoothly until CASC sent back their fourth Yunhai satellite.

Yunhai-1 04 will be China's 47th orbital launch mission in 2023. CASC still wants to reach 60 launches, but the company has only completed 33 launches so far.
