AWS Says Close Collaboration Can Realize Cloud Potential In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Cyber security, organizational culture, limited access to information technology (IT), software and hardware infrastructure, and limited digital skills are the main obstacles to cloud adoption among MSMEs.

"Even though even the most basic cloud technology has its own benefits, the fact is that MSMEs still have a big opportunity to increase their cloud adoption," said Aaron Hill, Managing Director of Economic Insights, Accenture Strategy and Consulting at AWS Cloud Day 2023 on Tuesday, Last September 26.

According to him, with support from the government and industry, these business actors are enabled to utilize transformative technologies such as generative AI to create more innovation, encourage economic productivity, and bring meaningful change to society.

In order to accelerate cloud adoption, especially in the application of Generative AI and machine learning (ML), AWS is collaborating with governments, educators, and various industries.

"To help local MSMEs in Indonesia grow, operate efficiently, and create a positive impact on surrounding communities," said Gunish Chawla, Managing Director, Mid-Market Enterprise and SMB, ASEAN, AWS.

Through this collaboration, AWS helps MSMEs to capture digital economic opportunities and transform their business models using cloud-based technologies such as generative AI.

The latest Amazon Web Services (AWS) report entitled "Realizing a Cloud-enabled Economy: How Cloud Drives Economic and Societal Impact Through Micro, Small, And Medium-Sized Businesses" reveals five recommendations that MSMEs need to pay attention to in accelerating cloud adoption.

These recommendations include:

1. Identify how the cloud can simplify strategic goals

2. Evaluate industry and government support

3. Providing education and cloud proficiency improvement programs for its employees

4. Review data and security policies, and

5. Create a comprehensive cloud migration strategy.
