JAKARTA - Starting in 2024, Google Podcasts will remain in name. After Google Podcasts closes, Google will make YouTube the platform of choice for podcasters and listeners.

In its official statement quoted from The Verge, Google stated that in 2024 they will invest more in YouTube Music and direct users to the platform.

This investment will be developed considering that 23 percent of weekly podcast listeners in the United States (US) admit to listening to podcasts via YouTube. This figure is far compared to Google Podcast users, which is only 4 percent.

Even though Google Podcasts will be closed, Google will help its users switch to listening to podcasts via YouTube Music. They planned this transition through a simple migration tool.

Google will add RSS feed podcast capabilities to the YouTube Music library or switch Google Podcasts users' subscription plans to a compatible podcast app.

“In the coming weeks and months, we will gather feedback to make the process of migrating from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music as simple and painless as possible,” Google said.

YouTube confirmed this plan. They explained that the transition from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music would take quite a bit of time.

However, YouTube and Google are committed to making a great product. Until further news regarding this switch is released, users can still listen to podcasts on Google YouTube.
