Terrible Note Of Monkeys Injected Dead In Neuralink Brain Implant Test

JAKARTA Neuralink, a neurotechnology company owned by Elon Musk recently was accused of securities fraud regarding primate deaths in research at his company.

Musk admitted on September 10 that there were a number of monkeys that died in his company's trial. He said this through his personal account on platform X, Twitter previously. Musk emphasized that no monkey died from Neuralink implants.

In a statement, Elon Musk said that the researchers had selected a subject that was near dead. However,Wired revealed a surprising report regarding the deaths of these monkeys.

Public documents obtained by the Doctors Committee for Responsible Treatment (PCRM) show that the primate subject owned by Neuralink must be euthanized or lethal injection. This happens because the subjects suffer various complications such as bloody diarrhea, partial paralysis, and cerebral dieme.

In addition, there are documents showing that a male monkey was injected dead in March 2020. The male monkey was injected dead after his skull implant was released. The autopsy note also shows that implant failure can be considered purely mechanical and not exacerbated by infection.

Another note thatWiredkutip was experimental results in December 2019. It was recorded in one document that a monkey had to be euthanized after a piece of Neuralink's brain implant broke during surgery and caused infection.

Another monkey, referred to as the 15th subject, was recorded as emphasizing his head to the floor for no apparent reason a few days after receiving the implant. His condition is said to have decreased since the incident. In fact, the subject trembled every time he saw laboratory workers.

In the end, this 15th subject needs to be euthanized because bleeding in the brain and Neuralink implants make the cerebral cortex damaged. Meanwhile, another data obtained by Wired is a statement from a former Neuralink employee.

According to the undisclosed employee, the monkeys that became the subject were not chosen based on being close to death, justru what happened was the opposite. The employee said, 'We kept these monkeys about a year before the operation was carried out.'

Neuralink has obtained permission from the independent assessment board to recruit the first humans to be tested for brain implants. This trial did not take long and is predicted to run for up to six years.
