JAKARTA - Paolo Ardoino, head of technology from stablecoin publisher Tether, recently found himself having to address rumors about large industrial containers circulating online. This picture led him to reject questions about where Tether was mining Bitcoin (BTC).
In an upload on X (formerly Twitter) on August 26, Ardoino gave an explanation of the curiosity that arose as a result of the photo shared on August 24. The image features a container with the Tether Energy logo edited with a photoshop, which makes many people reflect on what it means.
He explained that the photo shows the control room at one of Tether's Bitcoin mining sites which is currently being completed and will start operations soon.
However, Ardoino firmly stated that he would not disclose the location, in response to many users who asked about it.
Although he mentioned that his location is on the South American continent, he did not provide further details for security reasons.

"Where? At LATAM. We tend not to share the right location to avoid harassment against personnel, legitimate concerns given the number of critics obsessed with Tether," he said. He acknowledged that this had led many critics of Tether to question its legitimacy:
"You can almost hear some of them shouting: 'TIDAAAAAKKKK IF you don't tell us the address, the postal code, the last name of the cow eating grass nearby, then it's not real!!!!'"
He also answered people's doubts about the edited logo with photoshops appearing in the containers, explaining that it was a deliberate media decision.
"We thought that the photo would be shared in the newspaper so the team wanted to give him the brand," Ardoino noted. However, he believes that displaying the logo at the mining site would not be wise in terms of security.
"In addition, placing a large Tether logo will not be good in terms of location physical privacy," said Ardono, quoted by Cointelegraph.

He expects operations to start in September. "This site is growing well, all team members are very enthusiastic and working hard to start operations in the coming weeks," he said.
This comes after news that Tether is developing mining software aimed at providing more transparency in the Bitcoin mining industry.
In an interview with Cointelegraph on August 17, Ardoino explained that Tether is working on a mining software called Moria that provides a more comprehensive data analysis of energy production at Bitcoin mining sites.
Ardoino highlighted the need for better analysis and performance review in Bitcoin mining. He believes that Moria will help in evaluating the performance of the site and its surrounding environment.
"If the energy used by mining sites is wind or solar, there are optimization parameters, such as wind speeds predicted for certain days or hours a day, which can be used to accelerate some miners and increase production."
