JAKARTA - Game development and publishing company Activision Blizzard announced that it will launch Overwatch 2 to Steam on August 10.

"We want to give everyone the opportunity to experience our universe with old friends while making new ones, no matter how they choose to play," Blizzard wrote in an official statement on the website.

Overwatch 2 was originally only launched for players via the Battle.net streaming platform two decades ago, with its launch to Steam, Blizzard intends to make it easier for players everywhere to find and enjoy their games.

"It was our goal at Blizzard to listen to the players and try to go beyond their expectations in everything we did," said Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment.

While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and in the future, we have heard the players want Steam's choice of play, starting with Overwatch 2 on August 10. We are delighted to work with Valve to make it happen," he added.

As a team-based game free to play, Ybarra believes that Overwatch 2 is the perfect title for Blizzard's debut on the platform.

"Gamers will have another platform where they can play a beloved game that takes advantage of Steam's capabilities, and is talented at Blizzard helps us develop features and functionality supported for Overwatch 2," said Gabe Newell, president of Valve.
