JAKARTA - The economic losses of France due to this summer's heat wave are estimated to reach 10 to 15 billion euros (around Rp187 trillion to Rp280 trillion), said French Environment Minister Monique Barbut.
"The estimated direct and indirect costs due to this summer heat wave are in the range of 10 to 15 billion euros," Barbut said at an emergency meeting reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Thursday, August 13.
Barbut explained that a definitive calculation of the total economic losses is still difficult to determine at this time because the extreme heat wave is still ongoing.
"However, the value is certainly much higher than in 2022 because the duration of this heat wave is longer and the intensity is stronger," said Barbut, while outlining the value of the damage in 2022 is estimated to reach 5 to 6 billion euros.
