Microsoft Brings OpenAI Technology to Teams Premium

JAKARTA - Microsoft has launched Teams Premium and packed many Artificial Intelligence (AI) features into a new level of paid services.

While there have been many new features added, one that stands out the most is a feature enabled through Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

Teams Premium is now available with features powered by the GPT-3.5 AI language model, including a smart recap feature that automatically generates meeting notes, tasks, and meeting highlights thanks to GPT-3.5, along with branded meetings, custom meeting templates, and features like watermarking for better protect meeting content.

The smart recap feature will use that AI model to automatically generate personalized meeting notes, recommended tasks, and highlights. This feature will also intelligently break the meeting recording into several parts so that users can more easily find the information they need.

While most of the smart recap features are available today, Microsoft says some features won't be available until the second quarter of 2023.

Microsoft is also taking some of the free version of Teams features and building them into the Premium version, including live subtitles, special organization of Together Mode scenes and a number of virtual appointment features.

Live subtitles will be available for a 60-day grace period for existing Microsoft Teams users, and the virtual appointments feature will only be available for 30 days.

Another feature of Microsoft Teams Premium that may appeal more to businesses is advanced meeting protection. This includes a number of safeguards such as watermarks and labeling of sensitive content during meetings, or the ability to restrict users from recording and copying text from meeting chats. Microsoft says the features can prevent leaks or keep discussions private.

The Premium Microsoft Teams, quoted from The Verge, Friday, February 3, also include a webinar so businesses can host events with an customizable registration waiting list, start-and-end time, and virtual green space.

The addition of the GPT-3.5 OpenAI model to the Premium Microsoft Teams comes just days after Microsoft expanded its OpenAI partnership in a billion-dollar investment.

The company is also reportedly preparing to bring OpenAI technology to Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and reportedly plans to add an AI chatbot ChatGPT to Bing.

For information, the Microsoft Teams Premium is available with an introduction price of 7 US dollars equivalent to IDR 104 thousand per month until June 30, but when it returns to the standard price of 10 US dollars is equivalent to IDR 149 thousand per month.
