JAKARTA - Data center service provider company PT DCI Indonesia Tbk said it is building another data center in Bintan, Riau Archipelago.

Deputy President Director of PT DCI Indonesia, Marco Cioffi said that the place which will later be named DCI Bintan Campus will compete with Singapore in seizing international clients.

Apart from its location close to Singapore, another reason why DCI will build a campus in Bintan is because they want to get to the Singaporean market.

"Singapore is Southeast Asia's largest data center. Currently DCI is expanding its campus in Bintan. DCI in Bintan will use 100 percent renewable energy," Marco said in Cibitung, Bekasi Regency on Tuesday, January 17.

The idea of using renewable energy arose because in the data center sector, Marco felt that they had to ensure that the energy used was clean and sustainable for the environment.

The planned development of the data center with a capacity of 3,000 megawatts will target international markets, especially cloud clients such as Microsoft, Alibaba, and also Amazon. Not only that, DCI is now also eyeing market content clients such as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.

Currently, PT DCI Indonesia already has four data buildings with a total capacity of 37 megawatts, which are located in Cibitung. DCI also plans to construct more buildings there, targeting a total capacity of 300 megawatts.
