JAKARTA – The South Korean technology giant, LG Electronics, announced that they have teamed up with cloud-based technology platforms, Oorbit and Pixelynx, a company that builds integrated music, game and Web3 ecosystems. This collaboration is to bring the metaverse directly into the living room of viewers.

The collaboration is set to enable viewers to explore connected virtual worlds, concerts and artificial intelligence multiplayer games through their LG TVs, making it easier for consumers to interact across the metaverse.

According to a Jan. 4 press release sent to Cointelegraph, users will be able to access “super high-fidelity interconnected virtual worlds” and experiences including virtual concerts and AI-generative multiplayer games.

“Our proprietary technology is a connective tissue that connects virtual worlds together and makes it easy for developers and brands to bring their experiences to the metaverse. Scaling our technology to millions of LG TV customers is the next step in making the metaverse accessible to everyone,” said Pooya Koosha, Oorbit co-founder and chief technology officer, in a press release.

In December 2022, Cointelegraph reported that digital entertainment, blockchain, and gamification company Animoca Brands had also secured a majority stake in Los Angeles-based Pixelynx.

In March 2022, LG Electronics also officially updated its business development goals to include cryptocurrency and blockchain based software.

A South Korean news platform reports that LG added two different crypto-related targets during its annual general meeting: “blockchain-based software development and sales” and “cryptocurrency brokerage and sales.”
