JAKARTA - By 2022, Kaspersky's growth detection system found an average of 400.000 new malicious files distributed daily over the past 10 months. This number represents a 5% increase compared to 2021, where only 380.000 malicious files were found every day.
“Given how quickly the threat landscape is expanding in reach and the number of new devices that appear in users' everyday lives, it is very likely that by next year we will not detect 400,000 malicious files per day, but rather half a million,” said Vladimir Kuskov, head of anti-malware research at Kaspersky, in a statement received in Jakarta.
Based on the findings of the Kaspersky Security Bulletin (KSB), a series of forecasts and annual analytical reports on important changes in the world of cybersecurity, during 2022, in total, Kaspersky detected around 122 million malicious files, 6 million more than last year.
In addition, Kaspersky researchers also found that the share of ransomware encountered daily increased by 181% compared to 2021, reaching 9.500 encrypted files per day.
Among other threats, Kaspersky's security solutions also detected a 142% growth in Downloaders share of malicious programs that install new versions of malware or unwanted applications on infected devices.

“What's even more dangerous is that, with the development of Malware-as-a-Service, any budding cybercriminal can now attack devices without any technical knowledge in programming,” added Kuskov.
According to him, it is very important not only for large organizations but also ordinary users to use reliable security solutions, thereby avoiding becoming victims of these cybercriminals.
