JAKARTA - Twitter has just released an account verification feature or blue tick on the Blue subscription service for iOS users in a trial version. However, reportedly this feature was delayed a day after launch.

The plan, if Twitter users want to get a blue tick on their profile, they have to pay 8 US dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 125 thousand per month to register for the Twitter Blue subscription service first.

However, CNN International's latest report, Monday, November 7, said the feature was withdrawn again because it had received negative reactions from the public.

Several celebrities on Twitter took action to change their accounts to Musk on the platform to reveal a potential flaw in the blue tick system.

For example, comedian Sarah Silverman used her verified account to frame Musk, she copied her profile picture, cover image and name.

But shortly after, his account was temporarily restricted and Silverman then returned his account to its original appearance.

Furthermore, there is television actress Valerie Bertinelli who also changed her account name to CEO of Twitter, and tweeted, “The blue tick means your identity has been verified. Scammers (was) going to have a harder time imitating you, but that's not the case anymore. Good luck out there!” said Bertinelli.

The point of Bertinelli's action is that anyone can get a blue tick without verifying the person behind the account by only paying IDR 125 thousand per month. Blue ticks have long been used to confirm the authenticity of accounts of celebrities, government officials, prominent figures and journalists.

What is Elon Musk's Blue Tick Feature?

Before Twitter retracted the blue tick feature, the company said accounts that applied for verification would get lots of new features.

Launching 9to5Mac, where users will be shown fewer and much more relevant ads, users can also post longer videos, and get priority rankings for quality content.

The company says Twitter Blue with pre-verification is available on iOS for users in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

The feature will be rolled out worldwide once confirmed to work properly. It's unclear when the Android version will appear.
