JAKARTA - Recently, several global technology market analyst companies reported a decline in the Personal Computer (PC) market in the third quarter (Q3) 2022 in the world. However, HP dismissed the decline in sales in its business.

HP Indonesia's Head of Commercial Personal System, Frans Adiredja, said that the market in Indonesia is good enough for his company to increase, even one person can own two to three devices.

"The market in Indonesia is very exciting, yes, when we enter the COVID-19 (period) in early 2020, the PC market is indeed rising, everyone needs devices for work, school and others," said Frans during a press conference on the launch of HP hardware for Hybrid workers in Jakarta, Friday, October 21.

"Even one person can have two to three devices. That makes the market even more up," he added.

Frans knew there were indeed reports in 2022 showing the PC market was down, but he brushed it off and stated that the moment had only shifted from the COVID-19 period to normal.

"In 2022 there may be reports showing that the market is going down, it's not going down (because) in 2021 there will be a boost then we will return to normal. But if we look, we compare 2019 before COVID-19 with 2022 it returns to normal, we compare the two positions this market is going up," said Frans.

"Of course, from the HP side, we want to sell as much as possible, if customers can appreciate the features that we give, and this can help users to work on hybrids better, then we can improve our sales," he continued.

Reported earlier, Canalys reported a decline in worldwide PC shipments in the third quarter with overall sales down 18 percent.

IDC also had similar findings with the figure dropping worldwide by more than 15 percent, while Gartner reported that worldwide PC shipments fell 19.6 percent. However, Apple is experiencing a positive increase with growth from year to year.
