Singapore Police Says Do Kwon Wasn't In Lion Country

JAKARTA – Do Kwon, who is now the most wanted man from South Korea, has been missing for some time. No trace of him was found in Seoul. However, news emerged that he had fled to Southeast Asia.

Singapore Police stated on Saturday, September 17 that the crypto developer accused of fraud by investors following the collapse of the Luna and TerraUSD cryptocurrencies, is not currently in the city-state.

Kwon, the lead developer of two cryptocurrencies whose spectacular collapse in May rocked crypto markets around the world. He is the founder of blockchain platform Terraform Labs, which has been accused of fraud by investors after the collapse.

Last week, a spokesman for the South Korean prosecutor's office said arrest warrants had been issued for six people, including Do Kwon. According to South Korea, they are now living in Singapore.

The arrest warrant comes after months of investigation and amid public anger in South Korea over the crypto token's collapse. According to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic, globally, investors in the two coins lost around $42 billion.

A statement from Singapore police late on Saturday also said they would assist South Korean police within the scope of their domestic law and international obligations to arrest the suspects.

Do Kwon himself continues to hide from the police. In his tweet on his Twitter account, he said that he didn't want to share GPS locations with anyone unless they were friends, had appointments and joined GPS web3.

"Otherwise you have no business knowing my gps coordinates," Do Kwon tweeted.
