JAKARTA - During the Google I/O 2022 presentation, the company showcased its latest Augmented Reality (AR) glasses that are able to translate languages in real-time.

Starting next month, Google plans to test its AR prototype in the real world. The company says this test was conducted on a small scale that included a few Google employees and a select few trusted testers.

In addition, this test is intended to better understand how these AR devices can help people in their daily lives.

"And as we develop experiences like AR navigation, it will help you take into account factors like weather and busy traffic," wrote Justin Payne, Group Product Manager at Google on his blog.

Payne also added that this prototype will include an in-lens display, microphone, and camera. But they will also have strict limits on what they can do.

"For example, our AR prototype does not support photography and videography, although the image data will be used to enable experiences such as translating the menu in front of you," he explained.

This is the company's first step in developing its AR glasses. The tech giant said it would slowly test it and make sure the technology could help people.

"As we continue to explore and learn what is possible with AR, we look forward to sharing more updates."
