JAKARTA - Recently, Instagram is busy with a new trend called NGL. NGL is a new third-party application that allows you to QnA with your followers anonymously.

NGL turns out to be a social media acronym which means "Not Gonna Lie". NGL first launched on November 7, 2021 in the state of California, built by a small team of designers and engineers in Venice Beach, California.

According to the application's description, the developer wants to provide a safe space for young people who want to share their feelings and opinions without being judged by other friends. NGL is now available worldwide.

Is NGL Really Safe?

The developer ensures that the app is secure by using world-class AI content moderation. "We use deep learning and a rule-based character pattern matching algorithm to filter out harmful language and bullying," the developer wrote in the app's description.

NGL uses AI Hive Moderation content which is able to detect sexual content, hate speech, cyberbullying, violence, and spam. Hive Moderation also claims that they have a 99.9% accuracy rate.

Furthermore, the NGL algorithm can also detect the semantic meaning of emoji and the NGL web scraper draws specific examples of contextual emoji use. "This means we stay on trend, we understand terms, and we know how to filter out the bad stuff."

How does it work?

How to use NGL is quite easy. Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Navigate to the Play tab.
  2. Tap the button that says copy link.
  3. Then tap the button labeled Share "Shared", which will take you to Instagram.
  4. Now tap on the sticker icon.
  5. Select Paste your link in the url field.
  6. Then position your link in the story.
  7. To view your messages, you can simply click the Inbox tab

The thing to note is, that NGL doesn't ask for your instagram account password or anything, so you don't have to worry. Furthermore, the developer says it will work to translate the app into more than 50 languages in the next few months.

The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
