JAKARTA - Southeast Strategics, a research agency part of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Prasetiya Mulya University, projects that online food delivery services or Online Food Delivery (OFD) will remain the choice of the Indonesian people after the COVID-19 pandemic, so that the OFD industry in the country will continue to grow.

This is known through the research "Perception & Consumption Behavior Survey of Online Food Delivery (OFD) in Indonesia" conducted by Southeast Strategics in order to explore the behavior of Indonesian consumers in using OFD services.

Based on this research, Southeast Strategics also reported that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, GoFood was the leader of food delivery services in Indonesia with the largest transaction value.

"We then carried out research to find out whether after the pandemic OFD services will still be in demand considering there is a change in behavior where people have started to return to work in the office, have activities outside the home and there is relaxation of regulations when traveling. The answer we got from this research is that the public still interested in OFD services because of the convenience and convenience it offers," he explained.

Stella Kusumawardhani, Economic Research Lead, Southeast Strategics explained a number of other findings from this research related to online food delivery, where the majority of consumers use OFD to support productivity, explore the latest culinary trends and socialize. More than half of consumers use OFD at least once every week.

Online food delivery services are used by almost all levels of fixed income society. Where, the majority of users are Generation Z (43%) and millennials (39%).

While related to the OFD industry, Southeast Strategics also found that GoFood is the main preference of consumers. According to research, GoFood is mostly owned and used by Indonesian consumers, even though consumers have other OFD applications.

GoFood is also a platform that is top of mind (50%) and most downloaded (76%) by consumers, and offers convenience and the most diverse menu.

In the second position, there is ShopeeFood, as many as 28% of respondents make ShopeeFood as the top of mind OFD platform and are considered by consumers as the platform that offers the most promos.

Following GrabFood in third position, with 22% of respondents making GrabFood the top of mind OFD platform. “We estimate the OFD industry will also continue to grow. Our survey results found that the majority of consumers (99%) intend to continue to use and increase the use (96%) of OFD services in the future," said Stella.
