JAKARTA - Instagram has just expanded its Sensitive Content Control feature for its users to be able to control the content they see in search results and recommendations.

Starting today, Instagram will be updating and expanding its Sensitive Content Control feature that will allow its users more control over how much sensitive content they see in the app, such as Explore, Search, Reels and Accounts You Might Follow, Hashtag Pages, and recommended feeds.

The latest version of the Sensitive Content Control feature is claimed to be available to all users in the coming weeks.

According to Instagram, the new version of the feature only filters out content from accounts that users don't follow and still allows them to see all content from those they choose to follow.

Here are some examples of sensitive content according to Instagram including topics like drugs, guns, vulgar content, and content discussing suicide.

Launching the official Instagram page, Tuesday, June 7, the newly expanded feature will also offer three control options, namely More, Standard, and Less. According to Instagram, More has fewer content restrictions so users may see more sensitive content.

Standard is a middle ground option that allows some sensitive content. Meanwhile, Less will have more content restrictions meaning users may see less sensitive content.

Users under the age of 18 will not be able to activate the More option. When the extended Sensitive Content Control feature is available to users, here's how to access it:

Open the Instagram mobile app. Select the Profile icon click the Menu icon at the top right select Settings, click Accounts and then select Control Sensitive Content.

Finally, Instagram also brings additional tools that can help users shape the Instagram experience, including Comment Control, Limit, Block and Mute.

For information, the Sensitive Content Control feature was launched by Meta last year on Instagram, where the company believes that each user's preferences for the content they see on Explore are different, including about sensitive content.
