JAKARTA Samsung is preparing to launch the XR (Extended Reality) smart glasses developed with Google. According to a recent report from Wellsen XR, this innovative device is expected to come in the third quarter of 2025 with advanced features that outperform Ray-Ban Meta glasses, although it does not appear to be equipped with display screens.

Research conducted in CHINA and reported by Maeil Business Newspaper revealed that Samsung will produce 500,000 units of XR glasses in the first batch. The device is slated for release in Q3 2025, slightly slower than expected, but is in line with Samsung's statement last October.

These glasses will use Qualcomm AR1 chipsets, similar to those used in Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. In addition, XR glasses will be equipped with a 12MP camera and a 155 mAh capacity battery, a nearly identical specification to Ray-Ban Meta. Weighing about 50 grams, this device is only slightly heavier than its competitors.

Without Screen, But More Sophisticated One of the main questions about these XR glasses is whether this device will be equipped with a screen. Based on the report, it appears that Samsung chose not to include the screen, the possibility of maintaining light weight and battery efficiency.

Although without a screen, these glasses are claimed to have advanced capabilities thanks to the support of AI Gemini. Some of the features highlighted include:

These features show superior potential capabilities over the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. In comparison, Ray-Ban Meta already supports AI for multimodal analysis, reminder settings, and scanning of QR codes, while Samsung appears to carry features similar to additional capabilities such as payment functions and human recognition.

If the Q3 2025 launch schedule is correct, users will still have to wait long enough to witness the debut of these glasses. However, Samsung is likely to provide an earlier leak, as did with the Galaxy Ring this year. It is possible that this device will be officially introduced at the Galaxy S25 launch event in January.

With more advanced technology and innovative features, the Samsung XR glasses are expected to be a breakthrough in the world of smart wearables.
