JAKARTA - A source at Meta Platforms Inc said on Tuesday, December 7, that Messenger chief Stan Chudnovsky, who also leads the integration of the social media network's messaging app, will be leaving the company in 2022.

Chudnovsky himself joined Meta, formerly known as Facebook, more than seven years ago as head of product for messaging. He was promoted to head of Messenger in 2018.

He previously worked as head of global strategy at Paypal after IronPearl, the user tracking company he co-founded, was acquired by the payments firm in 2013.

"I will be leaving Meta at some point in Q2 of next year," Chudnovsky said in a Facebook post. "I have no plans to retire, but I am looking forward to taking a good rest for the months."

Facebook has been trying to unify messaging across its suite of apps and first enabled it between Instagram and Messenger last September. It made similar moves to its namesake app and Messenger in August.

Chudnovsky said Loredana Crisan, who has worked at Meta for nearly six years, will be in the role of a leading Messenger spanning Instagram messaging and Messenger Kids.

Maher Saba, who joined the company in 2013, will oversee remote presence products and chief engineering officer, according to Chudnovsky's post.

Facebook in October changed the name of its parent company to Meta, undergoing a rebranding at a time when lawmakers and regulators criticized its market power, algorithmic decisions, and policing of abuse on its services.

Changes or mutations in this Meta are considered normal and are believed not to fundamentally shake management.
