JAKARTA - Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is currently in the final stages of training camp, ahead of his return to professional boxing next month.

Just a few weeks from fight night, Golden Boy – as De La Hoya was called in his heyday – will enter the ring on September 11 to make a special impression on someone in the crowd. Who's he?

De La Hoya, a former six-weight world champion, is currently in a relationship with golf presenter Holly Sonders. The pair were caught on camera at the Los Angeles Nobu restaurant last week.

Sonders was previously engaged to 'Vegas Dave', the self-proclaimed greatest sports gambler of all time. However, their engagement foundered last year.

De La Hoya met Sonder for the first time when this woman who loves to pose sexy underwater served as a presenter at one of De La Hoya's boxing events. They hit it off right away and have since been caught on TMZ cameras in Nobu, and previously spotted at the Pebble Beach golf course.

After news broke of their relationship, De La Hoya bragged to TMZ about how happy he was with Sonders and, of course, how he would easily win his comeback fight.

"Healthy, no drinking, it's okay, I'm just with my beautiful woman, Holly", said De La Hoya, quoted by the Daily Star, Monday, August 16.

"And I'm going to hit that bastard. Do you want to see a real fight? I'm going to hit that bastard".

De La Hoya, now 48, has been revealing his comeback plans for several years after retiring in 2008 following his loss to Manny Pacquiao.

The Golden Boy confirmed earlier this year that he would return to the boxing ring in September. Since then, De La Hoya has said he will face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort in a professional bout to be promoted by social media giant Triller.

Belfort, who became UFC light heavyweight champion in 2004 after beating Randy Couture, is 4 years younger than De La Hoya and has a 26-14 MMA record.

While De La Hoya retired from boxing more than 13 years ago, Belfort parted ways with the UFC in 2018 and remains a much more active combat sports athlete.
