Congratulations! De Bruyne Wins PFA's Player Of The Year Twice In A Row

JAKARTA - Manchester City's attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has been named the English Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year for the second season in a row.

The Belgian player successfully brought City to the Premier League title with a crucial contribution of six goals and 12 assists, which broke the new record for the most number of assists by City players.

In addition to helping City win the Premier League three times in the last four seasons, De Bruyne also led The Citizens to win the English League Cup and reach the Champions League final for the first time in history.

De Bruyne is the third player to win the PFA Player of the Year award for two consecutive seasons after Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

"It's crazy. You are talking about these two legends of the sport, one is one of the best strikers of all time (Henry) and the other one of the two best players in the world right now (Ronaldo), so to be able to do the same as them is something that crazy", De Bruyne said.

"I really enjoy playing in this team. I signed a new contract because of the way this team plays. I'm happy here.

"We continue to compete for all the trophies and that fits perfectly with my competitive character. This team is amazing and continues to push me to the best level every day", said De Bruyne.

De Bruyne was also re-elected in the PFA Team of the Year announced Friday, June 4, and is the only player to retain his place from the 2019/20 version.
