Ketum FGI Tak Persoatkan Rangkap Jabatan Erick Thohir

JAKARTA The General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Indonesian Gamenastic Federation (FGI), Ita Yuliati Irawan, did not question Erick Thohir's dual position as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) as well as Chairman of PSSI.

Erick Thohir was officially appointed to the position of Minister of Youth and Sports in a Cabinet Reshuffle of Volume III on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. He filled the chair to replace Dito Ariotedjo.

Ita said that she was sure that Erick would pay even attention to all sports (sports) even though she was still the General Chair of PSSI.

"I'm sure he will be able to sort out the PSSI, where are the other sports. I hope he will also be able to pay attention to all other sports as well," he said.

After serving as Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick's position in the PSSI chairman chair became a big question. Many suggested that Erick should resign from the parent national football in order to avoid conflicts of interest.

Although not a binding rule related to concurrent positions in the Erick case, the decision to resign is considered an ethical step. However, Erick emphasized that he would resign if FIFA asked him to.

Ita mengaku bahwa pihaknya menyambut dengan baik keputusan Presiden Prabowo Subianto memilih Erick Thohir sebagai susukor Dito karena dia sangat rich pengalaman di dunia olahraga.

"We see that Mr. Erick is already a figure in sports. We certainly hope that with Pak Erick can continue what has been done by Mr. Dito Aritedjo," said Ita.

One of Dito's relics is the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center (CYESC) complex, which includes complete facilities for gymnastics.

"Hopefully Mr. Erick can continue because for every sport, of course the facilities and infrastructure are very decisive," said Ita.

Erick Thohir has been waiting for a number of important agendas after serving as Menpora. One of them is facing the 2025 SEA Games multi-pronged sports event later this year.

Prior to that, Indonesia first hosted 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025 on 19-25 October 2025 at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta.

"World Championship is only one month away and God willing, I am sure Mr. Erick will be very supportive. So, hopefully we will succeed in the upcoming event," said Ita.
