JAKARTA - Following an emotional comeback to MotoGP in Portugal, Marc Marquez continues his post-injury rehabilitation to face the test at the Spanish Grand Prix at the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit this weekend.

Even though his physical condition is not 100 percent fit, Marquez has not lost his pace and claims P7 in Portugal after missing most of the 2020 season due to a right humeral bone injury.

At Portimao, the champion of the Repsol Honda team showed his aggressive driving style on the RC213V and even pushed forward to fight for leadership in the early laps.

When his humeral bone was no longer a problem in his maiden race of the season, Marquez continued training in the gym preparing for the physically demanding race at Jerez, where he picked up his injury last year.

"Now we are back to the rhythm of the race, after a productive week we are back on track," Marquez said as quoted by Antara from the team's official website, Tuesday.

"I am continuing my recovery program to ensure my physical condition improves and following the doctor's advice, I have not ridden a motorcycle since Portugal.

"So, of course, I am very excited to be back on the bike.

"We are approaching Jerez the same as Portimao, we are here to continue to improve step by step and do the best job we can.

"My recovery continues, and the important thing is we improve consistency."

Marquez has always been on the podium whenever he has finished in the Spanish Grand Prix in the premier class including three wins.

The top three races that have been held this season were swept away by Yamaha riders.

Monster Energy Yamaha racer Fabio Quartararo temporarily topped the standings with 61 points followed by Ducati team rider Francesco Bagnaia who overshadowed second place with a distance of 15 points and Maverick Vinales who was 20 points adrift.
