PSSI Affirms Compensation To Shin Tae-yong Is Complete

PSSI said the compensation for Shin Tae-yong had been completed (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi Sasono).

JAKARTA - PSSI through the General Chair (Ketum), Erick Thohir, stated that the compensation for Shin Tae-yong who had visited the Indonesian national team had been completed. Erick Thohir said the compensation provided was in accordance with the contract.

Shin Tae-young has actually released his status as coach of the Indonesian national team since January 6, 2025, even though in his contract extension agreement, he was tied to 2027.

Based on the agreement, PSSI clearly had to pay the South Korean coach's severance pay.

"If we feel it's finished. We are in accordance with the contract. We have adjusted it for January 2025, bonuses, all."

"In fact, the coach assistant whose contract is in December 2024, if I'm not mistaken, I'll check again, I think we will give it until January 2025," said Erick Thohir as quoted on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Erick Thohir also stated that PSSI could not be in arrears to Shin Tae-yong considering that this is a professional organization and has self-esteem.

"I think PSSI has self-esteem, PSSI is also professional. Not perfect. However, it is impossible if an increase like this, FIFA, AFC, and AFF do not believe in us," he said.

"So, we did our best and I thank coach Shin. I always say, this is part of professionalism and we are now focusing on coach Patrick (Kluivert)," he said.

After the business with Shin Tae-yong was completed, PSSI is now focusing on the new era of the Indonesian national team with Patrick Kluivert.

In addition, PSSI also focuses on programs that are being implemented, especially in order to realize the dream of appearing in the 2026 World Cup.

"We evaluated the U-20 Indonesian national team, now there is the U-17 Indonesian national team which we also encourage for the U-17 World Cup. Same."

"Is it wrong if we at PSSI who hear the voices of supporters, Indonesian people, want us to also play in the World Cup, I don't think we are wrong."

"We (Indonesia) once hosted the U-17 World Cup, but for qualifying as a team, you can do it."

"I think our program, it looks like this two-year program is all running. So, I don't think PSSI has ever had such an aggressive program," he said.
