Nketiah's Late Goal Saves Arsenal From Defeat Against Fulham

JAKARTA - A late goal scored by Edward Nketiah saved Arsenal from defeat against Fulham and forced a 1-1 draw in Week 32 of the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium, London, Sunday.

Nketiah scored his goal in the seventh minute of injury time, grabbing the ball from Dani Ceballos' shot which goalkeeper Alphonse Areola couldn't completely stop.

VAR did a review of Rob Holding who was in an offside position, but Nketiah's shot didn't hit his body so the goal was passed.

The goal erased Fulham's lead since the 59th minute through Josh Maja's penalty, after referee Craig Pawson and VAR agreed Gabriel Magalhaes violated Mario Lemina in the area.

Five minutes before halftime, Ceballos actually had time to break into Fulham's goal, but the Arsenal players' celebration was halted because VAR canceled the goal after claiming Bukayo Saka was caught offside in the attack process.

The draw made Arsenal not move from the ninth position with 49 points but was threatened to be overtaken by Leeds United (45) who just played tomorrow to host Liverpool.

As well as only picking up one point, Arsenal left the game overshadowed by concerns as Alexandre Lacazette had to be pulled off midway through the second half and sidelined in a limp.

As for Fulham, their first points achievement in the last five matches did not affect their position in the relegation zone, ranking 18th with a collection of 27 points, Antara noted on the official Premier League website.

Fulham still need six points, or even more to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, because two of its rival teams, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion, have yet to play match week 32 respectively.
