Jay Idzes Feasibility Appointed As Indonesian National Team Captain Replaces Asnawi

Jay Idzes officially wears the captain of the Indonesian national team (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi Sasono).

JAKARTA - Venezia FC player, Jay Idzes, was appointed captain of the Indonesian national team during the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round against Bahrain. His position shifts Asnawi Mangkualam, who previously had the captain's armband.

The appointment of Jay Idzes as captain of the Garuda Squad was not without reason and had gone through several considerations. Based on the presentation of the Indonesian national team manager, Sumardji, Jay Idzes is considered qualified considering how the player is responsible for the team.

"So, Jay (Idzes) was given the task and responsibility, he really had totality in carrying it out," Sumardji said in a statement quoted on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

"For example, he's late, maybe one minute late, eating because of the problem elevator, but then what he did was an example for players."

"After eating directly in the classroom, the team meeting. He (Jay) immediately stood in front, apologized and explained the reasons why he was late and conveyed to all his colleagues," said Sumardji again.

In addition to explaining the positive example of the player, Sumardji also said that Jay Idzes was deemed worthy of being captain because his figure was also not stingy in knowledge. He wants to teach lessons to other players.

"This child can be an example and teach, be a mentor. Leadership is very okay. Not teaching players who are in our league, but all friends," he said.

Meanwhile, Jay Idzes also emphasized that he was proud to have won the trust to captain the Garuda Squad.

"I am very proud and grateful that I had the opportunity to wear the armband (Indonesian National Team)," said Jay Idzes.
