Indonesia Gets An Offer To Host The 2036 Olympics

JAKARTA Indonesia received an offer from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to host the Olympics in 2036.

This was revealed by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito on the sidelines of his activities at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Badung, Bali, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at noon.

The offer was made by the President of the IOC, Thomas Bach, during a bilateral meeting with the elected President Prabowo Subianto at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dito said that during the meeting they discussed the possibility of Indonesia hosting the important four-year event.

"Then the IOC President offered (Indonesia to host the 2036 Olympics)," Dito was quoted as saying from the website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

In the discussion, the two figures also discussed the opportunity for Jakarta and Bali to become the venue for the most prestigious multi-branch event in the world.

Dito revealed that there still needs to be an in-depth discussion or study before the two regions are confirmed to be the location of the event if Indonesia is elected as the host.

"This is a process that must be further analyzed. We have to analyze its sustainability and effectiveness. The spirit is how in the future Indonesia is ready to host the Olympics," he said.

The next Olympics will take place in Los Angeles, United States, in 2028. After that there will still be the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, Australia.
