JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) will look for a new general chairman for the 2024-2028 term of service.

Since taking the form in mid-August 2024, the stock exchange for general chairman candidates (caketum) has been quiet.

There is only the name Budisatrio Djiwandono echoed by the Perbasi Caketum Penjaringan Team. Another name that appears in the form-taking, Yos Paguno, clearly dims.

Yos Paguno on paper is not an equal opponent for Budi. Judging from his background, Budi is a politician from the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) who is now Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR RI.

The 42-year-old man is also the nephew of the elected President, Prabowo Subianto.

Not to mention that Budi has served as General Treasurer (2015-2016) and Secretary General of PP Perbasi (2016-2019).

This background certainly makes it easier for Budi to lobby support, especially the Perbasi Provincial Management (Pengprov).

As is known, Perbasi caketum registration must include at least 15 Pengprov supports.

Sure enough, when the form was returned on Friday, September 20, 2024, Budi came with the support of 28 Perbasi Pengprov.

Budi was present with several representatives of Pengrov who will support him in the Perbasi National Conference (Munas) later. Among those who attended were the East Java, NTB, and Banten Perbasi Pengprov.

"There is written support and 28 supports have been submitted physically from the Pengprov. There is still one ongoing and I hope other Provincialists will follow," said Budi at the Perbasi Office, GBK Arena, on Friday, September 20, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Budi's support has exceeded the requirements to qualify as a candidate for chairman of Perbasi.

In fact, that number is the majority of the total 31 Perbasi Pengprov which will be the voter.

Moreover, Yos Paguno until this news was written there was no sign of returning the form. It's only two days left before the deadline for return on September 23, 2024.

This means that there is a great opportunity for Budi to walk as a single caketum at the Perbasi National Conference. However, the amount of support will still be examined by the Perbasi Caketum Penjaringan Team to ensure its validity.

"Incidentally, I became the Secretary General of his (Danny Kosasih) for four years. God willing, I will be able to imitate Pak Danny's example and continue his struggle and dedication," he said.

The return of the registration form will be closed on Monday, September 23, 2024, evening at 17.00 WIB. The Penjaringan team then has two days to verify each candidate's requirements.

The head of the Penjaringan Team, Setia Dharma Madjid, said that he had checked at first glance Budisatrio's files including the amount of deposits of IDR 500 million which had to be submitted by prospective candidates.

"I have checked at first glance including the deposit of funds. Later we will check whether this support is really valid or not. We will check after the closure and the announcement on September 25, 2024," he said.

The Perbasi National Conference is planned to be held in Jakarta on 28-30 October 2024. The main agenda for this activity is the election of the general chairman for the 2024-2028 term of service.
