The 12 Percent VAT Increase Will Be Announced By President Prabowo This Afternoon

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives Mukhamad Misbakhun said President Prabowo Subianto is planned to announce an increase in value added tax (VAT) by 12 percent at 15.00, this afternoon.

"Today at the ministry of finance. I got that information from the Minister of State Secretary," said Misbakhun at the Golkar Party DPP office, West Jakarta, Tuesday, December 31, which was confiscated by Antara.

Prabowo will make the announcement at the Ministry of Finance office.

Misbakhun, who is also the Chair of the Golkar Party's DPP for Economic Policy, said that his party supports Prabowo's steps in increasing VAT by 12 percent.

This was done because the 12 percent increase in VAT policy would affect the stability of the economy.

In addition, Misbakhun believes that this VAT increase does not aim to burden the community.

"I believe the president holds his commitment as president who does not want to burden his people," said Misbakhun.

Later, after the policy applies, Misbakhun and the ranks of the Golkar party will oversee the policy so that it can be applied evenly throughout the region.
