West Java And Central Kalimantan Get Disqualification Of XXI PON Boat Rowing Sport, What Does PB PODSI Say?

The Executive Board (PB) of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association (PODSI) explained the cause of the women's rowing team for the West Java (Jabar) and Central Kalimantan dragon boats being disqualified in the final round of the XXI PON dragon boat rowing sport (sports) on Saturday, September 14.

"West Java and Central Kalimantan contingents have been disqualified because they have entered the opponent's path," said Deputy Secretary of PB PODSI Brata Tryana Hardjosubroto in Aceh Besar District, Sunday, September 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

Brata explained that according to the rules, each dragon boat is prohibited from entering the opponent's lane because it can endanger the safety of athletes. Both were disqualified after the organizing committee checked via drone video.

In the 1.000-meter women's crew dragon boat rowing sport, the boat driven by West Java and Central Kalimantan athletes both entered the opponent's lane during the race.

The committee immediately stopped the match and repeated the race without involving the Bumi Pasundan team and the Central Kalimantan women's team.

Brata said the disqualification was the first time this had occurred in the rowing sport of the Aceh-North Sumatra PON dragon boat. In the previous edition in Papua, there was no disqualification of the athletes who competed.

"But actually it could happen at any time," he said.

In the final of the 1,000-meter dragon boat, the DKI Jakarta contingent came out victorious with a time of 4 minutes 18.736 seconds and was entitled to take home the gold medal. Then in second place or a silver medal was won by the Aceh host's women's team who finished with a time of 4 minutes 19,986 seconds.

Meanwhile, the third rank or bronze medal was secured by the South Kalimantan women's team after touching the finish line with a time of 4 minutes 21.708 seconds.
