Lautaro Martinez Makes Sure Inter Milan Are Not Satisfied With The 20th Scudetto

JAKARTA - Inter Milan did not lose the ambition to chase trophies. After making history by winning the 20th Scudetto, captain Lautaro Martinez said Inter was still setting a target of winning trophies in the 2024/2025 season, including defending the Italian Serie A title.

Inter won the Scudetto for the second time in five seasons. Martinez also played a role in bringing I Nerazzurri to the league championship trophy.

This success made Inter win the Scudetto for the 20th time as well as the second team to win the most. Juventus are ranked first by winning 36 times. Meanwhile, AC Milan is in third place with 19 times being champions.

Inter also won success in Supercopa Italiana. However, Inter failed to defend the Coppa Italia title. They were also eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Inter's achievement in European competitions has decreased. Because in the 2022/2023 season, Inter can penetrate the Champions League final before being defeated by Manchester City 1-0.

Outdoor failures have motivated Martinez to achieve success this season. Not only in Serie A, but also in Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, to the Champions League.

According to the Argentine national team striker, the success of winning the Scudetto has become an emotional moment for him.

"The league title is really full of emotion in my life, at least at club level. Winning the World Cup with Argentina is a dream come true," Martinez was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

"I am proud to wear two stars. The same thing was felt by all teammates. Last season was truly extraordinary and stressful. This is all thanks to teamwork. We built an extraordinary team," he said again.

Inter won the Scudetto during the competition leaving five games. The certainty of the champion is determined by winning over city rivals AC Milan, on April 22, 2024.

"When the final whistle sounded on the derby, I actually wanted to run towards the fans. However, I couldn't do it. I was very emotional at that time," he said.

"At that time, I was full of thought and joy. There was an extraordinary feeling of satisfaction. Our hard work paid off. We are really proud," Martinez said again.

"This championship title means a lot to our careers and clubs. However, we will not stop. We want to continue to grow as a team and as individuals. Our targets will certainly rise to the level," he said.

This season, Inter started well. Inter won seven points from the first three matches. A 4-0 win over Atalanta brought La Beneamata to the top of the standings.

Moreover, Juve, who are competitors, lost points after being held by AS Roma 0-0. Inter and Juve together with Torino and Udinese both have seven points. However, Simone Inzaghi's team had the best goal difference.
