Weather Considerations Are The Reason Indonesia U-20 Participates In Mini Tournaments In South Korea

Indonesia U-20 is in the middle of a training camp in South Korea (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team has been in South Korea since Wednesday, August 21, 2024, to hold a training camp (TC).

The training camp was held in preparation for Indonesia U-20 to appear in the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification at the end of September 2024.

Not surprisingly, on the TC agenda, Garuda Muda will also participate in a mini tournament called Seoul Earth on Us Cup 2024 from August 28 to September 1, 2024.

Indra Sjafri's team will face a strong team, namely Argentina, Thailand, and South Korea in the tournament.

Indra Sjafri also revealed the reason why he chose South Korea as a place for training camps and trials.

"The weather is exactly the same as Indonesia. Of course for that reason too, the weather considerations, because here (South Korea) is not cold. We took this tournament to be used as a trial for preparing for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification," said Indra.

"We are grateful that the supporting facilities here are also quite good. The target in this tournament, for sure we will do a match to find the best format for the 2025 U- Asian Cup Qualification."

"The problem is, there are several new players who come in and we will try that later in this tournament," said Indra Sjafri.

In addition to participating in the mini tournament, Indonesia U-20 also scheduled several previous trials.

South Korea's local teams will be the opponent of the match before jumping against the three strong teams earlier.

"Therefore, in preparing the team for the tournament later, we will hold a match with the local team here. Hopefully, it can be a simulation before the tournament later," said Indra.

So far, Indra Sjafri said the training camp had run smoothly. The program he made ahead of the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification is still as planned.

"Alhamdulillah, we have started training in South Korea and are running smoothly. We will start by making a periodization of preparations for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification in September 2024."

"So, preparations here are also in order to prepare us for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification," said Indra.

In line with Indra Sjafri, one of the U-20 Indonesian employees, Toni Firmansyah, admitted that all preparations were going well.

He was also very enthusiastic to give his best for Indonesia U-20 throughout the training camp and mini tournaments.

"It must be nice to enjoy training, of course we are enthusiastic. The field is also quite good, good. The weather is also good."

"Preparing for the tournament, of course I am ready and able to show my best. My target is to play well and give the best results."

"I ask for support from my family and supporters so that we can give our best in the match," said Toni.

Meanwhile, Indonesia U-20 is in Group F in the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification with Yemen, Timor Leste, and the Maldives. Indra Sjafri's troops are aiming for tickets to qualify for the final round which will be held in China next year.
