Thailand Champions, Indonesia Fails Again In SEA V League

YOGYAKARTA - The Indonesian men's team again failed to win the SEA V League title after being defeated by Thailand 1-3 (20-25, 24-26, 25-22, 26-28) in the final match at GOR UNY Yogyakarta, Sunday, August 25, 2024 evening WIB.

The Indonesian team failed again. The defeat made Indonesia only ranked second. This achievement is the same as the achievements of the national team in the Philippines last week.

Meanwhile, Thailand won the title again. Previously, Kissada Nilsawai et al. was also the best in the Philippines.

In these two series of SEA V League events, Thailand was not defeated in six matches. And only lost a set, namely against the Indonesian national team in the last match in Yogyakarta.

In that match, Indonesia was two sets behind Thailand. The first set, the team of coaches from China, Li Qiujiang, was unable to do much and was forced to lose 20-25.

The set of the two national teams trailed far from Thailand with 10-16. However, slowly being able to catch up even at the end of the second set had the lead 24-21.

However, Thailand was able to catch up and force demand 24-24. In fact, Park Ki Won's team was able to complete the second set with a score of 26-24. Set the three national teams to rise and be able to finish with a 25-22 victory.

The fourth set of both teams chased each other's numbers. The national team had taken the lead with 18-16. But Thailand was able to equalize 18-18. And, Angga Anggara's spike came out to make it 18-19.

The fourth set continues to be tight. Both teams continued to chase numbers from 20-20 to 24-24, 25-25, and finally 26-28 for Thailand's victory

After the match, Indonesia's assistant coach, Anwar Sadat admitted that Farhan Halim cs. was ugly in making a comeback. This is what makes it difficult for the national team to catch up.

"Because a lot of receiver errors made it difficult for us to carry out attacks in the first set," said Sadat.

In the second set, Sadat said, there have been developments in the game. "But it seems they are tired, so we are already ahead we can be pursued," he said. Sadat admitted that this national team must be evaluated for the future matches, if there is any improvement.

In addition to winning trophies and medals, Thailand also received a prize of 16 thousand US dollars in coaching money. While the home team as runners-up got 13 thousand dollars. Third place, the Philippines received 11 thousand dollars, and the fourth received 10 thousand dollars.

The Philippines itself appeared surprising by beating Vietnam. They outperform Vietnam with a tight score 3-2 (27-25, 14-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12).

The national team also received two best titles, namely Dio Zulfikri as best setter and best exit hitter occupied by Farhan Halim with Michaelo Buddin from the Philippines. The best player or MVP was won by Napadeth Binijdee from Thailand.
