Not Satisfied With Nunez, Arne Slot Wants To Sign Jonathan David

JAKARTA Darwin Nunez's still winding appearance made Liverpool coach Arne Slot said he was interested in bringing in Lille striker Jonathan David.

Nunez is known to still have difficulty finding her best performance with the Reds. The new coach of The Anfield Gank, Arne Slot also parked the Uruguayan in the Premier League opener against Ipswich Town last week.

On the other hand, Jonathan David has scored 87 goals in 187 competitive games since joining Lille from Gent in the summer of 2020. Last season, the 24-year-old striker scored 26 goals in 47 appearances, including 19 league goals to occupy second place on the list of goalscorers alongside Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon.

The Canadian international was also able to continue his good form into the new season, having scored three goals in Lille's first five games in all competitions. The impressive performance eventually led to speculation surrounding David's future, especially since he has entered the last year of his current contract.

Caught Offside reports that Liverpool want to recruit David before the Premier League transfer deadline, offering a long-term contract of up to five years. However, Lille is said to be still asking for 45-50 million euros if the Everton city rival intends to bring David.

The Reds themselves are Premier League clubs who have yet to bring in new players. Had been linked to Martin Zubimendi, they had to bite their fingers after the player decided to stay with Real Sociedad.

If they manage to get Jonathan David, Arne Slot is believed to have many options in front of Liverpool. Because they still have Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. However, David can be placed as a center forward to compete with Jota and Nunez.
