Japan Open 2024: Fikri/Daniel Qualify For The Second Round

Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Martin stepped into the second round of the Japan Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Martin successfully got a ticket to the second round of the Japan Open 2024.

They qualified after winning two straight games 21-19 and 21-19 against the pair from China Taipei,manfaatn Chien Wei/Wu Hsuan Yi, at the Yokohama Arena, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at noon WIB.

The latest ticket secured by Fikri/Daniel made Indonesia have a total of seven representatives who managed to pass the first round of the BWF Super 750 level tournament.

In the men's doubles, there were four representatives who reached the round from five pairs who took part in this event. Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan is the only representative of the men's doubles to return early.

The veteran couple nicknamed The Daddies stopped after losing against their junior, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana.

The other two tickets for the second half of the men's doubles were pocketed by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Of the four pairs, Leo/Bagas and Sabar/Reza immediately faced each other in the second half. This makes Indonesia automatically have one ticket for the quarter-finals in the men's doubles.

Meanwhile, three other second-half tickets belonged to the men's singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, and mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

The second half of Japan Open 2024 will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024. The match will start at 09.00 local time or 11.00 WIB.
