Rock Climbing Of The 2024 Olympics: Desak And Rajiah Failed To Get A Medal

JAKARTA Two Indonesian rock climbing athletes, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rajiah Sallsabillah, failed to bring home the medal in the women's rock climbing group at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Desak ran aground earlier in the quarter-finals after losing against Chinese athlete Deng Lijuan, in Le Bourget, Paris, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, evening WIB.

In that match, Desak carved a record time of 6.369 seconds or a narrow loss of 0.006 seconds from his opponent who finished with a time of 6.363 seconds.

On the other hand, Rajiah Sallsabillah managed to advance to the semifinals. He finished with 6.54 seconds to lead the United States representative, Emma Hunt, who had a time of 7.4 seconds.

Unfortunately, in the semifinals, Rajiah actually lost against Deng, who finished with a time of 6.38 seconds. The 25-year-old athlete was only 0.03 seconds adrift of his opponent.

Rajiah, who lost in the semifinals, then appeared in the small final to win bronze. However, he lost again so he finished fourth.

In the small final, Rajiah came down against Poland's representative, Aleksandra Kalucka. He finished with a time of 7.6 seconds, while his opponent was 6.53 seconds to take home the bronze medal.

The gold medal was pocketed by Aleksandra Miroslaw (Poland) after defeating Deng Lijuan. The medal finished 6.10 seconds, while Deng 6.18 seconds to get a silver medal.
